<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->LAST Friday night, at around 11pm, my wife and I decided to take a taxi home as she was not feeling well. We had been waiting along Sims Avenue for about 20 minutes when we saw SBS Transit service 62 about to turn out from Sims Way into Sims Avenue. We made our way to the bus stop, glancing back every now and then to see how far away the bus was.
As we came near the bus stop, I saw the bus filter from the third lane to the first lane, eventually overtaking us. At that point, we were about 20m from the bus stop and there were not many people boarding the bus. I then ran towards the bus to ask the driver to wait for my wife.
As soon as the last passenger boarded the bus, it started to move away, with the door still open. The door closed just as I reached it. Instead of stopping and opening the door, the driver continued to inch the bus forward. I even banged against side of the bus twice to attract his attention, but to no avail.
As the bus sped away, I managed to see the number plate, SBS957B. I cannot imagine what might have happened had I grabbed the door of the bus. I would have been dragged along for sure.
I have heard of bus drivers having to adhere to their schedules, but the actions and nonchalance of this driver are not acceptable. I hope SBS will investigate and take action against him. Melvyn Chan
