Johor police chief tightlipped on fugitive’s arrest

JOHOR BARU: Scores of Singaporean journalists who flocked here to get comments from the police over fugitive Mas Selamat Kastari’s arrest in Johor, were disappointed when police refused to comment.

Joined by their fellow journalists here, the Singapore press corps waited for about an hour before they were finally called in for a press conference at about 5pm.

But much to their disappointment, Johor police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff remained tight-lipped over the arrest.

Instead, the press was briefed on how the Johor police and State Education Department planned to tackle disciplinary problems in schools.

Asked about Mas Selamat’s arrest, DCP Mokhtar retorted: “Today, I am going to exercise my right and my right is to tell you, at this point of time, no comment.”

He added that the media should know that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan had already issued a press statement on the arrest.

When he noticed that the press were disappointed with his reply, he quipped: “Don’t be sad, I have given you an answer. My answer is no comment.”

Real intel operators will not go to the press and say we are the one that did this or that.

WKS should be shot, for failing on his job and put the whole nation at risk.

So thick skin say he receive many SMS to congrats him on the arrest, what an incompetent clown.

He said Malaysian police were working with Singaporean and Indonesian authorities on the investigations, and declined to say when exactly the fugitive was nabbed.
“There are certain things of national interest that do not just involve Malaysian intelligence but can affect our work with the other two countries like in this case and with Germany, the United States and Britain in the case of Al-Qaeda,’’ Hishammuddin said.

Wah seh! In other words, the role Old Fart's AyeAssD played is actually even smaller than what the Yellow Cunt boasted lah!

As you can see here, peesai is not in the loop and the top is as clueless as sporeans to what is actually going on behind the scene. Msian police do the job and then convey the message to peesai. Peesai then announced to the public, "Hooray, we have nab him." But when asked how, where and why. They are tongue tight, and then spin a story to entertain the sporeans. Are the local police authority just for show only?

I do not think WSK and ISD can claim credit if they did not help at all in this arrest.

Imagine sometime down the road, Malaysian comes out to say that they received tipped of from a local and led them to MSK without any inputs from ISD or any one from Singapore, then we really MALU big time leh.....

Talking abt that, any news on whether the S$1m reward is claimed? If really one JB fella provided the info, he will be a bery bery rich man soon!!

• Mas Selamat Arrest

SINGAPORE: Singapore's Law and Second Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam has said security along the country's borders is tight.

He stressed that if there is any weakness in Singapore's border security, the government will work towards plugging it.

Mr Shanmugam was speaking on the sidelines of a fund-raising event organised by New Hope Community Society.

He was responding to questions on whether border security measures would be enhanced, after it emerged that terrorist Mas Selamat Kastari had swam across the Straits of Johor from Singapore's northern coast using an improvised flotation device.

Mr Shanmugam said: "In certain stretches between Singapore and Malaysia, it's a few hundred metres across. And every day people try to get in. It's a constant challenge for officers. Wherever it can be plugged, of course we will do so, but it's a pretty tight system."

He also commended the close cooperation between the police forces of Singapore and Malaysia in the re-arrest of Mas Selamat.

He said Singapore's Home Team officers were very stretched with their duties when Mas Selamat escaped in February last year.

They had to put in extra effort beyond their call of duty to track him down.

But the arrest of the Jemaah Islamiyah leader shows the determination of the Internal Security Department (ISD).

Hehehe, best joke I have read so far in this forum!

Anyway the Msian police did a good job that Singapore is appreciative. They should know that cooperation with Singapore is always better than needling Singapore like what Mahathir used to do!

Sg police need to show true guts in apprending criminals..need to learn from the Malaysian police who got BIG BALLS to have face to face with arrest!
