Sudden death: Man collapses while packing bags
SHE was watching TV when she heard a loud thud.
When Madam Khoo Kim Chai turned to look, she saw her son, IT engineer David Lim Chwee Guan, 31, slumped against the cabinet outside his room.
Her first thought was that he had knocked into it accidentally.
Madam Khoo, 68, told The New Paper in Mandarin: "I called out to him and asked him why he was so careless. He didn't respond and his eyes were closed.
"That was when I realised that something was wrong."
Mr Lim was pronounced dead at the Singapore General Hospital at 10.45pm on Tuesday. His death certificate stated that he had died of cardio-respiratory failure, but Madam Khoo said her only child did not have any underlying medical conditions.
Madam Khoo said that minutes before he collapsed, Mr Lim was packing his luggage in his room.
The bachelor was supposed to leave for Krabi the next day with some of his church friends for a five-day holiday.
Said Madam Khoo: "He was looking forward to the trip as it had been some time since he took a break from work and studies."
Mr Lim, a polytechnic graduate, was studying for an accountancy degree in a private school.
