in the 1980s, all seats contested were 1-on-1, so, JBJ (racial minority) breeched their defence & won a seat in parliament. not long after, CST was the next opposition candidate to squeeze into parliament.
shortly before the GE in late 80s, the "geniuses" of the self-made "demi-gods" deviced GRC with a pretext to allow more racial minority into parliament. a tactic that was already preconceived and had headstart in preparation. nonetheless, with limited resources & manpower, the opposition continued to mount pressure to contest in every GE thereafter, while most GRCs were basically walk-over.
this time round, 2011, history in the making! the 1st time almost all constituencies & GRCs were contested. making it impossible for the PAPaya to resume governance. in more than 20 yrs, the leg shakers have now got to contest for the "thrown" they once were automatically ushered into.
in the past few days, the leg shakers have been farting a lot from their mouths, cautioning voters that they're in for trouble if we lose a few good cabinet ministers on polling day.
well, the leg shakers have their masters/bosses to thank for the situation they're in right now. they got to ask themselves, who's the genius that came up with the idea of a GRC? surely these "scholars" have forgotten about chinese literature, they forgot how 曹操 lost his handsome naval fleet, when he decided to tie them together during battle, making it easy for 诸葛亮 to reduce 曹操's fleet to ashes.
the GRC system worked to the PAPaya's advantage throughout the 90s, but welcome to the millenium, it has come to the point when voters have suffered beyond breakpoint, and voters will not allow PAPaya to make parliament house their kopitiam tcss venue, so that they can pass laws & policies that work to their interests.
anyway, just because some GRCs may lose a few cabinet ministers.... no harm done anyway, just like the same way how a last minute mobilized substitute, can stroll into parliament via tg pagar... the PAPaya have admitted openly that hey have planned for substitutes, and the substitutes r eager/waiting to take over those vacancies when the situation arise.
voters gotta ask ourselves:
1. do i want to save the ass of a cabinet minister, at the expense of my own well being & future?
2. ahloong already say there's substitutes, so y continue using the same donkey?
MP is still an MP, regardless minister or not. u save the minister's job, but minister can't promise he/she will save your job. he/she will tell u to re-learn a new skill & go for a job of a salary.
in 2011, GRC is the PAPaya's own undoing.
