According to new numbers, things for The Little Mermaid remake look less than optimal.
Disney fans are gearing up for the Studio’s latest release: the live-action adaptation of its classic animated film The Little Mermaid. The film, which features newcomer Halle Bailey as the titular mermaid princess, has been generating a lot of buzz ahead of its release this Memorial Day weekend. Unfortunately, experts predict that The Little Mermaid is poised to only make a medium-sized splash at the box office.
Live-action remakes of classic Disney animated films have generally been hit or miss in recent years. The success of live-action films like The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast has been countered by flops like the recent Dumbo and Pinnochio remake. Many fans feel burned out with all of the remakes coming out every year.
