The greatest supergroups of all time

Supergroups are like matches made in musical heaven. Indeed, some of these bands managed to make great music, but sadly most of them didn't last long. Musical talent abounds in supergroups, but so do big personalities that sometimes clash with each other. Still, some of the world's greatest musicians collaborated to create music that many of us love.

Cream -

Formed in 1966, Cream is considered the first supergroup ever formed. Cream was guitarist Eric Clapton (Yardbirds), drummer Ginger Baker (Graham Bond Organization) and bassist Jack Bruce (Manfred Mann).

The Highwaymen -

The Highwaymen is one of the greatest supergroups of all time. It brought together country music legends Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson.

Velvet Revolver -

Guns N' Roses' members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum, teamed up with guitarist Dave Kushner and Stone Temple Pilots vocalist Scott Weiland to form Velvet Revolver. The supergroup enjoyed great success, particularly with their debut album 'Contraband,' released in 2004.
