Boy meets girl, boy falls head over heels, boy marries girl. Thereafter whisks her off to Lombok, Indonesia for their honeymoon, where both totally didn't count on being twitterpated with Ayam Bakar Taliwang - a local grilled chicken mainstay amped up through an intricate agglomeration encompassing asam pedas, kencur (sand ginger), terasi (shrimp paste), candlenuts among various other nitty-gritties. So much so that sparked one madcap idée fixe of betrothing our sacreder than thou nasi lemak institution to it, which they would then, well, merchandize conjointly.

Thus began Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang by former flight attendants Noorman Mubarak and Madam Puti Andam Dewi Henry in 2017 at Yishun Park Hawker Centre; fast forward seven years this curious anathema has today sired a ton of "offspring" within shopping malls, coffee shops, hospitals etc, the orignal YPHC stall meanwhile horking down consecutive Michelin Plates (2021-2024). Eponymous nominal item aside, traditional nasi lemaks (retrofitted with your usual chicken wing(s), otah, cuttlefish fillet or ikan selar kuning, ie yellowtail scad) are also decidedly, albeit surprisingly, forthcoming.

Noorman Mubarak was the motherfucker who played the victim card by making his pregnant wife stand outside the stall, until he got exposed as a liar. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS HAWKER.

Mr Noorman wrote in his post on Feb 18 that the National Environment Agency (NEA) had given his wife a warning for violating the tenancy agreement by not being at the stall physically. NEA requires stallholders to personally operate their stalls to prevent subletting.

Commenting on the case, Dr Koh said it was a "very one-sided story" as NEA had offered Mrs Noorman to nominate another person to take over the store during her pregnancy.

The stall is registered under Mrs Noorman and the couple has been manning it personally before adopting technology and software to allow their staff to handle the physical work while they looked after administrative matters.

"But instead of actually accepting that as a legitimate option to do so, they decide to put on social media to try and say that we have been unhelpful," Dr Koh said.

S'poreans just love to join a long queue, thinking that the food must be worth the wait. There was this wanton mee stall in Little India that had long queues because the hawker had no assistant, and was slow to boot. I and my colleague joined the queue believing that the food must be exceptional, only to be disappointed.
