TechInsights, a research company specializing in electronics products, said that the cost of each 16GB version iPhone5 came to around US$167.5.
The cost of each iPhone5 is US$35 higher than that of each iPhone4S and the profit of each iPhone5 stands at US$200-300, according to the research company.
The A6 processor was the most expensive component in the iPhone5, reaching to US$28, compared to the A4 and A5 processor used in the iPhone4 and iPhone4S at US$14 and 21. The A6 processor will drive the iPhone5 to speeds two times faster than the A4 and A5 processors.
The research company looked into the cost of iPhone4S launched last year, and estimated US$137.5 and US$112 for each 16GB version iPhone4S and 16GB version iPhone4 respectively.
The tag price of unlocked 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions of the iPhone5 came to US$649, US$749 and US$849 respectively.
