They had budgeted $6.25 million for this comcare fund to help the needy, but so far, only 25% or $1.6 million were given out. This clearly is a big wayang by MCYS, out to hoodwinked Singaporeans with big budget when they intended to disperse only a fraction of it.

'While self-reliance is good, if you really need, then please ask for help. The resources are there, the money is there,' said Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon.
The Citizens' Consultative Committees' ComCare Fund, for example, is distributed by grassroots leaders to residents who need urgent financial aid.
The Government has budgeted $6.25 million for this fund in the current MCYS financial year which ends in March, but only about $1.6 million has been given out as of last December.
