A very simple title which naturally shows that the whole thing is evolving around him and no one else. Here is a so called opposition leader fighting on the platform of democracy. Unlike oppositions in Burma, Zimbabwe and even Thailand, this figure has failed to gain strong international or local support--why so is a whole range of issues.
Now he fights with is so called ally--the internet medium turning a political website into an everyday blog site. No structured format like the US political parties (which he usually called for Singapore's politics to be) and not even close to the weakest political sites in developing countries. When the so called controlled official media talks about him he retreats to his blog/"political website" conjures the bogeyman and portrays himself as the one always at the firing line (but never shot). He is backed up by the few who believe in him and to a lesser extent his ideals, not necessarily that of "Western" values. Small and shrinking and new band now, given the creation of yet another "democratic based" party by his former followers.
And even whe he talks about alternatives, there are no alternatives to himself. The bogeyman is always there, the main bogeyman or the other bogeymen who he eloquently drafted a three part rebuttal too--such a nice essay which could be reduced to half a part. Again, since his political website is a "blog" more than a political website, he turns everything to his favour--he gets anonymous supporters, he fields the words and even pictures and the bogeymen are always there to get him.
Alas, as I've said, they are his bogeymans and its his "blog". Like the artful writer, he writes well. But one can conjure up just so many bogeymans before people dig up the real bogeyman himself.
