Asian population was US' fastest-growing ethnic group last year due to immigration

Asian population growth: According to new population estimates released Thursday by the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of the U.S. reportedly grew to 333.2 million people by the middle of 2022, a 0.4% increase over the previous year.
Immigration was the main propeller for Asian growth last year, accounting for two-thirds of the 577,000-person increase in individuals who identify as Asian. The Asian population’s 2.4% increase is the biggest growth of any race or ethnic group last year.
There were reportedly 24.6 million Asians in the country in 2022. King County, Washington, saw the greatest increase of Asian residents (21,500) among all U.S. counties.
Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders: There were more than 1.7 million Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders living in the U.S. last year, an increase of 1.2% over the previous year.
Clark County, Nevada, experienced the biggest increase in Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islander residents, with about 1,500 new residents.
Other racial groups: White residents in the U.S. have also increased due to immigration, with its population growing by 391,000 since April 2020. In 2022, the U.S. had a population of 260.5 million white people, including those who identify as more than one race.
However, when it comes to white people who do not identify as Hispanic, there was reportedly a decline of more than 668,000 people, as the number of immigrants did not surpass the natural decrease coming from deaths.
As for the Hispanic and Black populations, new births exceeding deaths have helped the communities grow. The Hispanic population grew by 1.7%, and the Black population increased by 0.9% from the previous year.
