Tens of thousands link hands in Basque

Tens of thousands of people have joined hands to form a 123-kilometre long human chain in support of greater Basque regional independence from the rest of Spain.
Television images have shown people beginning the link-up at noon on Sunday forming a continuous line along a road joining the northern cities of Durango and Pamplona.
Organisers Gure Esku Dago, which translates from the Basque language as "It's in our hands", said about 100,000 people were needed to cover the distance but no independent verification was available.
In September 2013, more than a million people showed their support for Catalan independence by joining hands to form a 400km human chain across the northeastern region, which also harbours a strong secessionist movement.
