Something I've always known, as PC & video games these days are increasingly complex and exercise your brain and IQ in many different ways, especially games which involve PvP (ie. player versus player), as you need to use all your wits to outsmart other human players competitively.

totally agree. games have taught me a lot. or at least more than my schooling in sinkieland did.
 
On the contrary, video games are more and more dumbed down for today's kids. Strategy games are now a very niche genre, because not a lot of dumbed down millennial kids with a short attention span will want to play them.

Those mobile puzzle games are not strategy games, they're used for people to distract themselves without much thought.
