Taxi robber arrested
<!-- by line --> <!-- end by line --> A MAN suspected to be involved in taxi robberies was arrested on Wednesday. The 52-year-old is believed to be involved in at least three cases of taxi robberies in Tampines. According to police reports dating to August last year, the suspect would board the taxi and direct the driver to Tampines. Upon arriving at the destination, the suspect, seated behind, would place a knife at the driver's neck and demand cash and personal belongings. After extensive investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division managed to establish the suspect's identity, and arrested him in the vicinity of Block 23, Chai Chee Road. The suspect will be charged in court on Thursday with armed robbery. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 14 years and at least 12 strokes of the cane.
