Police have arrested a taxi driver and are looking for another suspect to facilitate investigations into the murder of S. Nallan, a part-time taxi driver who was found murdered on Nov 4.
City CID chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the 34-year-old suspect was detained in the Dang Wangi area last Thursday and police are looking for another taxi driver to assist investigations.
It is learnt that police have ruled out robbery as a motive and are looking at revenge of one of several possibilities for Nallan's murder. The suspect has been remanded until today.
Nallan was found murdered with 16 stab wounds and the body partially burnt, in his rented taxi in Jalan Tun H.S. Lee.
Meanwhile, Ku said police had wrapped up investigations into the attack on Wan Mohd Faizal Wan Mohd Najib, and would be sending the papers to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further instructions.
Faizal is the son of former Pasir Puteh member of parliament Datuk Wan Mohd Najib Wan Mohamad. Ku said the victim had been uncooperative in assisting police in their investigations.
There are currently two suspects in police custody, including one who is the son of a Datuk.
Police are still looking for three others.
The motive for the attack, in which 24-year-old Faizal suffered multiple slash and stab wounds, was over unpaid bets at a snooker game. Faizal had bet against a friend and won all the games
