Cabby insults my parents because their clothes are 'smelly'

STOMPer jadey's parents were insulted by a cabby because they had 'smelly' clothes. The cabby even wound down all the windows in his cab during the ride.

The STOMPer said in an email:

"My parents took a 10-15 minutes cab ride home from work on 18th April at around 1.30pm as I couldn't fetch them back that day.

"They are hawkers and after a hard day's work, they will naturally smell of sweat with a mix of other smells from the cooking or marinating of food.

"When they boarded the cab, the cabby was put off by them and asked if they were fishmongers.

"He then went on saying horrible things which went like 'Please change out of your clothes next time and don't do this to others again.'

"He then wound down all 4 windows throughout the entire trip on a sunny afternoon.

"Upon reaching the destination, he alighted too.

"He took a deep breath of fresh air and opened all 4 doors in front of my parents (who are in their sixties).

"Is this how cabbies are trained to treat customers?

"Discriminating certain jobs, hurling insults and embarrassing them all at once in a single trip???

"I feel that my parents (or anyone) shouldn't be made to take such manners from any cabbies.

"I've contacted ComfortDelGro about this incident.

"Being very understanding and polite people, my parents did not retaliate in any way to all the insults he hurled at them, as well as his childish acts.

"I hope that taxi companies will take this issue seriously by training their drivers to improve their services and being tactful to ALL paying customers, regardless of how they smell or look."
