While your wallet could end up as a casualty in this war to win the princess' heart, sometimes it may cost nothing more than fresh ingredients and some sincerity.

No need to put on a pyrotechnics display when it comes to winning someone's heart. A hearty dish of tiger prawns with pasta could suffice to ignite the fireworks in her head.

A word of advice: Even if the princess has moved into your castle, do continue with the royal treatment.

A little effort to make her feel like a queen can tame her inner tigress.

Unless you prefer to find out first-hand how a shackled shrimp feels without its shell.

TIGER PRAWN TAGLIATELLE

Ingredients (Serves one hungry person.)

3 tiger prawns

100g dried tagliatelle

1 small tomato, diced

8g fresh basil leaves, sliced into fine strips

1/4 tsp rubbed sage

1/4 tsp oregano

1 clove garlic, with skin

2 cloves of minced garlic

4 tbsp olive oil

10g unsalted butter

1/2 tsp table salt

1 tsp sea salt

Black pepper

Truffle oil

Method

Boil pasta according to instructions on pack.

Peel the prawns, reserving the shells.

Heat the oil, add the whole clove of garlic and fry the prawn shells until crisp.

Remove prawn shells from pan. Discard.

Place prawns in pan and add the butter. Fry for about 45 seconds, or prawns turn orange then turn over. Allow prawns to cook through. This should take about a minute or two. Remove from pan and set aside.

Add minced garlic to pan, followed by diced tomato. Add the cooked tagliatelle, rubbed sage and oregano. Season with sea salt and black pepper. Add in the fresh basil and toss to mix the ingredients with the pasta.

Serve tagliatelle with tiger prawns arranged on top. Drizzle on the truffle oil.
