人倫悲劇！前年(2017年)6月台中市某重劃區驚傳焚屍案，而痛下毒手的竟是死者的親弟弟。林姓男子因經商失敗，加上官司纏身又被通緝，竟起意殺害遊手好閒的哥哥再假冒其身分，偽裝成是自己死亡，想藉由詐死領取保險金。但人算不如天算，一張發票讓他被檢警調查出冷血真相。
詐欺通緝犯的林宗耀，為了躲牢獄之災，殺害胞兄並焚屍，製造他「死亡」的假象，以哥哥身份「重生」。警方調查，林嫌殺害哥哥後，刻意把自己的證件放進其口袋，同時還擺放骰子，故佈疑陣成自己因為詐賭遭殺害的假象，此外，林嫌在犯案前後換車又換裝，就是要躲避查緝！但法網恢恢，檢警進一步調閱監視器後發現諸多疑點，最後也終於將他繩之以法。
據《鏡週刊》報導，時隔近2年，這對兄弟的背景也曝光，原來他們來自台中知名黑道世家。而當初的破案關鍵是「一張發票」，當時警方調閱到監視器，發現有一段林宗耀丟棄垃圾的畫面，員警顧不得髒臭，終於在裡面翻找到他以死者信用卡加油的發票，顯示林嫌殺人、焚屍早有預謀。不過最後讓林宗耀認罪的其實是其大嫂，出庭時見到大嫂，林嫌終於崩潰求饒並認罪。
