統一獅昨天在總冠軍賽第3戰回到台南主場展現氣勢，以10：3擊敗猿隊，兩隊戰成二平，隨著戰況白熱化，期待能刺激票房；畢竟在前3戰打完，總進場人數只有33062人，平均11020人，為近6年的新低。
中職自2011年之後的總冠軍賽觀眾人數逐步回升且屢創新高，當年場均是9103人，2012年來到破萬的10763人， 2015年則是達到顛峰，桃猿與和中信兄弟爭霸戰寫下平均17446人，且有三場滿場紀錄，2016年義大犀牛對中信兄弟的平均也有17362人，也有三場的爆滿紀錄；但從去年開始出現跌勢，猿隊從中信兄弟手中拿下金冠軍，4場比賽平均吸引14091人進場，跌幅將近19%。
猿隊今年再度以包辦上、下半季之姿問鼎衛冕，但在主場票房沒開出紅盤，前兩場雖出現破萬的15116人、10757人，但距離兩萬人的滿場有一段差距，獅隊雖然是睽違5年爭冠，昨天卻開出近7年總冠軍賽單場最低的7189人，打完3戰的平均觀眾數僅11020人，系列賽很有可能出現連3年台灣大賽觀眾人數下滑。
票房不如預期的原因，可能和票價逐年上升有關，中職只有4隊競爭更是一大潛在因素，畢竟每年總冠軍賽的對戰組合變化有限，缺乏新鮮感，球迷不願年年買單；接下來獅猿爭霸形同另類的3戰2勝制，就看能否刺激另一波的票房。
