A young Swiss woman, accused of having attempted to slaughter two women in a store in 2020, is tried for “terrorist act”. At the start of her trial, she showed no remorse for what she did.
As a reminder, a young Swiss woman tried to cut the throat of two women in a store in Lugano (Switzerland) in November 2020, after buying a knife on the spot. One of the two victims was hit in the neck, while the other was slightly injured in the hand. With the help of other people, the latter nevertheless managed to control the assailant until the arrival of the police. According to the media, she repeatedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” and “I will avenge the Prophet Muhammad” during the attack. The young woman also said: “I am here for the Islamic State”
The trial of the Swiss woman, now 29, began on Monday August 29 at the Federal Criminal Court in Bellinzona. The young woman wore a long black tunic and a sanitary mask. She also had a hood covering her head. She wanted to keep it, because she is Muslim, but finally agreed to remove it after discussions with her lawyer and the president of the court. The Swiss is accused of wanting to commit a “terrorist act” in the name of the Islamic State. According to the indictment, she acted “intentionally” and “without any scruples.”
At the opening of the trial, the young woman expressed no remorse, reports Le Point. “If I could go back, I would do it better… with accomplices,” she even said in court. After discovering jihadism and the Islamic State on social media, she said she had wanted to “do something for IS” for a very long time. The accused has also shown that she could also “carry out a terrorist act.” A psychiatrist summoned by the court claimed that the young woman suffered from “slight mental retardation” and disorders similar to schizophrenia.
