Suspected serial housebreaker arrested

SINGAPORE : Police have arrested a 20-year-old man who is believed to have stolen cash, laptops and mobile phones worth S$2,000 from homes in Hougang estate.
The police said that between November 10 and 16, there were three cases of break-ins reported by Hougang residents.
In one of the reported cases, the suspect had entered the victim's home as the main door was unlocked.
In the other two cases, the serial housebreaker stole the valuables through the common corridor windows.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested the suspect on Thursday afternoon at his Alexandra Road workplace and recovered a mobile phone from him.
The suspect will be charged in court on Saturday.
If convicted of housebreaking and theft, he could be sentenced to 10 years' jail and caned.
