SINGAPORE: A supervisor of a construction company was jailed six weeks on Tuesday for stealing several items, including company property, that were worth more than S$14,000.
Tan Cheow Lai, 57, pleaded guilty to two charges of theft. Four other similar charges were taken into consideration.
He committed the offences on six occasions, between October and December last year at Block 123, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 3.
Tan had access to a storage container holding his company's staircase nosings, which are cover strips for stairs.
He stole more than 1,800 of such pieces and 15 pieces of bicycle racks on another occasion.
For theft, Tan could have been jailed three years, fined or both.
