Don't be too happy yet if you get SMS about free World Cup from StarHub
If you have received this text message from StarHub offering free live streaming of the World Cup, it might be too early to start jumping for joy.
STOMPer Starry was one of those StarHub subscribers who could not believe her luck when she received the SMS. She said:
"I was quite surprised to receive this SMS from StarHub.
"I have downloaded the StarHub TV application on my iPhone but I did not expect to receive such an offer by the provider. Anyone received anything similar like this?"
However, STOMPer Vassili found out that Lady Luck comes with a catch.
Said the STOMPer:
"I called StarHub to check on this SMS, and I found out that the free World Cup service on your iPhone's StarHub TV app is only applicable to those users who have already subscribed to the television package -- the one you have to pay over $70 for.
"Although I have paid for that package, my friends who hadn't still received the message on their iPhones, and they all thought they can watch free World Cup, as long as they have downloaded the StarHub TV app on their iPhones.
"I think this SMS is rather misleading, because there's nothing on the message that says you have to first subscribe to the television package before you can watch World Cup for free on your phone."
