TOKYO - A STRONG 5.8 magnitude quake struck off northern Japan on Tuesday, seismologists said, but no tsunami warning was issued.
The quake hit at 10.02 am (0102 GMT, 9.02am Singapore time) in the Sea of Japan (East Sea), just east of Hokkaido island, according to the US Geological Survey. Its depth was estimated at 35 kilometres (almost 22 miles), the agency said.
