Just slightly over two decades ago the Regime was not only anti-communist but anti-Marxist as well. Some Singaporeans were imprisoned without trial for expounding Marxist ideology.

So it came as a big surprise when Pinky gave a keynote speech at the CCP Central Party School. Did his presence mean that China has renounced Marxism? More importantly did it mean that his father was wrong about Marxism?

Below is a brief of the status and the continuing importance of Marxism to the Chinese government and its people:

At China's Central Party School (CCPS)

CCPS senior experts compiled the three edited volumes known as the “Three Basics” in the late 1990s for instruction on Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Th eory. Hu [Jintao] wrote a preface for the series, which the CPC Central Committee mandated in 2001 as basic readings for all Party cadres across the nation.

The CCPS’ training department organizes a special class of future leaders composed of promising younger and middle-aged officials primarily between 45 and 50 years old. At the beginning of the term, each student gets a list of the classical works on Marxism and Leninism, which they are required to complete within three months.
