SHAH ALAM: Computer hard disks with a market value of RM4mil stolen from a warehouse at the KL International Airport (KLIA) have been recovered. Selangor acting CID chief Asst Comm Omar Mamah said initial investigations revealed that it was an inside job. In the 5.20am incident on Saturday, 542 boxes of the hard disks manufactured for CCTVs were taken away in a lorry from a warehouse in KLIA.

After receiving a police report from an assistant manager at 7am on the same day, police swung into action with a special task force headed by CID deputy chief Asst Comm Khaw Kok Chin. A total of eight workers were detained to facilitate investigations. One of the workers confessed that the theft was an inside job.

“Our men were taken to a terrace house yesterday at 7pm in Bandar Behrang in Tanjung Malim, Perak, where more than 90% of the stolen goods were recovered and two more men arrested,” said Omar. He said police had remanded 10 Myanmars aged 29 to 40. “We are looking for a man named Komessiroe Kamis alias Siro, aged 22, to facilitate investigations,” he said.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, Omar said a Myanmar man aged 19, was abducted on Sept 22 and released on Sept 25, after his brother, a vegetable seller at the Serdang wholesale market, paid RM3,000 for his release. Omar added that the victim sustained some minor bruises.
