NATIONAL Solidarity Party's (NSP) candidate in Pioneer opposition Steve Chia on Friday said the opposition is poised to win at least one GRC in the coming election.
He is also confident that the opposition parties contesting Chua Chu Kang, Bishan and Aljunied GRCs 'stand the best chance' of winning a Group Representation Constituency this time round.
Speaking to reporters at the Elections Department where he went to pick up a political donation certificate, he said the papers of NSP candidates were in order and they were all set to file on Nomination Day next Wednesday.
Mr Chia, 41, an equities and index futures trader, contested the 2001 and 2006 elections, losing both times in the Chua Chu Kang single-seat ward.
He fared well enough in 2001 to be the 'best performing opposition loser' to earn a place in Parliament as a Non-Constituency MP (NCMP).
The NSP has confirmed that it would field 24 candidates for the coming election.
