A station inspector was fined $5,000 and banned from driving for two years today for causing an elderly pedestrian's death.
Senior Station Inspector Goh Siew Hiang, 49, admitted failing to keep a proper lookout when making a left turn from a driveway into Choa Chu Kang Crescent. She hit Mr Nam Kong Swee, 83, causing his death, on March 17.
The court heard that she was driving from the multi-storey carpark to the driveway leading to Choa Chu Kang Crescent and making a left turn when her car hit Mr Nam, causing him to fall.
He suffered serious head injuries and died 1 1/2 hours later in hospital.
