SINGAPORE: StarHub is changing its channel numbering system.
It said the move is in line with the practices of pay TV operators worldwide and part of its overall strategy to pave the way for the introduction of new content.
StarHub will make the changes on April 30.
The channels will be grouped according to genres:
100 - International/Ethnic/Free-To-Air
200 - Sports
300 - Kids
400 - Education/Lifestyle
500 - Entertainment
600 - Movies
700 - News
800 - Chinese and Other Applications (Playin' TV, Interactive TV, KaraOK!)
It said the new three-digit numbering system will give viewers greater convenience in locating channels of their favourite content genres.
MediaCorp's seven free-to-air channels will occupy channels 102 to 108.
To help subscribes identify the new channel numbers, StarHub will offer a three-day free preview of all StarHub TV channels for its customers starting April 30.
Viewers can also press a Channel Finder application on their remote control.
StarHub said it will also launch two English entertainment channels - truTV and WarnerTV - on Thursday.
Later in the month, a sports action channel and a thriller channel will be added to the lineup.
