<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->STARHUB'S recent offer to carry SingTel's English Premier League (EPL) channel for free and let StarHub customers pay the charges direct to SingTel is seriously worth considering.
Since the Media Development Authority missed the opportunity the first time round to keep EPL costs in line, perhaps it should not get involved in seeking SingTel's cooperation. I want this option as I am interested in only EPL and none of the other services under SingTel's mio plan.
I am sure SingTel will resist this for business strategy reasons, but to state that one reason is SingTel's superior technology does not hold water. My understanding is that EPL signals are sent via satellite and the programme only needs to be downloaded for telecast. I believe it can be downloaded to any specific format that is required, so box technology does not come into play.
Whatever it is, thank you, StarHub, for your 'customer first' attitude - first by bidding for EPL at a price you felt would not increase the burden to consumers, second by offering customers the option to stop their sports subscription without being penalised, and finally by allowing customers to avoid any cumbersome process by offering to carry SingTel's EPL channel for free.
