Opposition appears only at GE time, say incumbents
"Speaking at the PAP's first rally, Mr Michael Palmer, who is contesting in the Punggol East single-ward, criticised his two opponents for their lack of groundwork between elections."
Naughty, naughty, of Mikey boy.
Pray, can he tell us how can anyone really do groundwork when the wards are changed and chopped and not revealed until the last possible moment?
Pray, can Mikey tell us how much groundwork did the Instant MP in Tanjong Pagar before he was made MP in 35 seconds flat?
Pray, can the MP tell us how much groundwork has Mr Baey done in Tampines GRC before he was transferred there at the last minute?
Let's focus on the serious issues, Michael. Like why is a minority individual being fielded in a SMC and yet concurrently, we are told that GRCs are needed because minorities cannot get elected.
Or is he a case study? If he wins, will there be GRCs next election, and what will be the justification? And if he loses, long live GRCs, because PAP can then say, "I told you so." It was also unfortunate that when Goh Meng Seng asked him during the TV programme on this point, he was stuttering and his colleague Indranee gave a half-baked illogical response.
Dear oh dear, in the words of George Yeo, the people of Punggol East are being forced by the PAP to pick between opposition cause and self-interest.
