The discovery of 13th century earthenware, Song Dynasty coins and artefacts dating back more than a millenium old proves that Singapore was more than a fishing village before Raffles came and 'founded' it.
The corollary is that Singapore was definitely much more than a fishing village and swamplands before LKY/PAP took over - something LKY/PAP has been beating their chests about to trump up their 'contributions' to Sinkiepore's development during the last few decades.
