<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I THINK the Tampines Polyclinic at No. 1 Tampines Street 41 has to expand its blood test and ECG laboratory.
The unit, which is a small room occupied by at least five nurses, is often crowded with sick patients and the nurses. The ECG room is a bed with a curtain pulled across in front of it. Every nurse and patient conversation is within earshot of everyone in the cramped room.
It gets disorganised especially on a Monday when there is often a larger crowd. On this day of the week, one cannot even see the colour of the tops of the working tables as they are covered with bottles of blood and urine samples and documents.
There should be enough free and open spaces within health-care institutions to minimise the risks of cross-infection among the sick and health-care staff.
