<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->LAST Friday, a group of us went to Shangri-La's Rose Verandah to celebrate a friend's birthday.
The food and company were thoroughly enjoyable, but what made the dining experience extra pleasurable was the way the staff were so attentive to us. The birthday celebrant was pleasantly surprised by the staff who not only presented her with a cake but also sang to her. Before we left, she was also presented with a gift.
Kudos to Shino who must have overheard me saying, 'The birthday girl has to sit at the head of the table' when we arrived at the restaurant. Shino and his colleagues have shown what it means to delight their customers.

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->ON BEHALF of my family, I would like to thank staff nurse Usha Devi at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).
My grandmother was admitted to Ward 8B on Aug 29. She was unconscious and unable to control her bowel movement. Ms Usha cleaned her and monitored her condition tirelessly throughout the night.
She wore a smile and was very patient throughout her work.
She demonstrated passion and professionalism in her work and love for her patients.
We treasure this precious experience at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.

In the past...the medical services weren't that up to date & advance like today, though the nurses, matrons, doctors etc at the hospital, weren't a bunch of people, you would want to go back to; at least they serve you with a heart & compassion; underneath that stern exterior. But if you get to know them well, they make life long friends...but then again, hospital stay is not in everybody's mind. Especially the older generation, it means CGH..."can't go home'...

My point is, today, a patient is a customer to a hospital, Ms Usha is getting her bonuses, incentives if she serve her customer well; and when the 'customer' (grandma) comes back for a longer stay; it means, more income...more bonuses..more..

Healthcare is a multi-billion business, money motivates good service...not that, they aren't any witha heart...but USHA..what can we say?

Ong Jao Jian is a nitwit...:p

I have to agree. The service level in SG is pretty bad. SGreans are simply not meant to be in the service industry

Rather than blaming Sporeans why not blaming the Sporean SYSTEM  Even the PAP justify their pay with their claims that if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

Poor pay & conditions don't encourage good service industry practices.

There are probably more non-Sporeans in the service industry than Sporeans. So the blame goes to the PAP for allowing un-talented service workers into Spore

Taking an example that most Sporeans can relate to, NS where there is poor working conditions, poor pay, poor relations between the top & lower ranks. How many NSmen are motivated  Its all about the stick without the carrot
