STOMPer Worldly wise spotted live chickens and in this supermart in Johor and hopes that Singaporean youth would be shown how they look like.

In his email to STOMP, he wrote:

"When I asked my 5-year old nephew if he had seen a live hen and a live chick, he replied that he had seen only chickens in the freezer of the supermart.

"He noticed that they all do not have feathers. He thought that all hens and chicks live on a farm .

"Recently when I visited a grocery shop in Johor, I took these pictures to show him how a live chick looks like.

"This shop sells blachan, ikan bilis, mee hoon, dried chilly, salted fish , onions and keropok.

"The boss also sells live chicks to farmers who bring them back to the village to rear them so that when they are fully grown they could be slaughtered for consumption.

"I hope our schools will bring their pupils to visit some of the Johor farms so that they can see for themselves how hens, crocodiles and ostriches look like."
