S'pore's 'Edison Chen' says he's 'ethical'

Singapore's 'Edison Chen' Gary Ng has been setting tongues wagging online with his sex-capades this past year. RazorTV's Daryl Chin manages to track down the man behind the videos.

Inadvertently, the first question asked during the interview was: "Are you the real Gary Ng?"


It was natural, considering that we could not have identified our subject in any way. And if he wasn't the real deal, our interview would have fallen through.

Our subject - clad casually in T-shirt, jeans and a pair of sunglasses - reassured us.

The only way to contact him, he said, is through his Hotmail address. Naturally, he is the real deal since he was the only one present.

As if realising that wasn't enough proof - after all, someone else could have been checking his e-mails for him - he also brandished what looked to be a steel ring on his left hand.

In his amateur videos, he has a ring on his left hand, he said while rubbing the ring on his finger.

Our interviewee confessed that Gary wasn't his real name.

"GARY is an acronym for 'Girls Always Remember You'. Or 'Guys Always Remember You,'" he clarified, exhibiting a desire to be remembered.

In fact, he is also lying about his age - he is not 29 years old as claimed. But he is in the "oil industrial (sic)." When we probbed him further on what he did for a living, he refused to reveal his actual job scope

SO WHY VIDEOS?

To put to rest all the online speculation about why he started filming his sexual conquests and posting them online for all and sundry to see, he confirmed that it was the betrayal of an ex-girlfriend that begun it all.

"I had a few serious relationships which I've spent about 10 years on," our interviewee gestured.

"One of the hardest blows came from this sex video that I happened to see through her ex-boyfriend which happened overseas."

"He sent me a link to a video in which my girlfriend was having sexual intercourse with another guy."

Initially he "felt very down" and went clubbing. And whenever he has a chance, he'll film the girls on bed with him. In the beginning it was for his personal pleasure.

But when he posted one or two videos on an amateur website and received positive comments, it led to him posting more.

Our interviewee claims he is 'quite ethical' as well.

"I don't want to destroy anyone's future - neither mine nor my partner's."

"Most of them are expatriates and are in the professional line. I don't want to spoilt their image," he added.

So does he really hate women that much? Did all these videos stem from a motive for revenge?

Being the director and producer of home sex videos is not the romp in the park as it sometimes seems.

Just ask infamous Singapore sex-video blogger, who calls himself Gary Ng.

He has been cheated, ambushed and almost beaten up.


In a recent interview with Razor TV, Gary recounts an encounter with a man who posed as blogger Naomi Liu.

Naomi once made headlines for her suggestive and provocative photos.

The man had used Naomi's photos to impersonate her on instant messaging platform, MSN.

Gary started chatting with the impersonator - thinking she was the real Naomi.

But little did he know that the impersonator was out to make a quick buck.

Gary said: "We chatted for about one to two weeks and 'she' managed to con some of my cash."

He added that he had sent the money to 'her' through online bank transfers.

Gary started feeling that something was amiss. He started asking for 'her' number so that he could call 'her'.

But 'she' refused to divulge the information.

Gary then decided to conduct deeper checks and found out that the bank account he had transferred the money to belonged to a man.

The person confessed the truth and said that he knew Naomi and would introduce Gary to her.

Gary refused the offer.


Ambushed

A woman had asked Gary if he was interested in meeting her.

Gary agreed and set up the meeting time and location.

However, instead of turning up at the meeting place, Gary chose to stand at a place just metres away where he could easily observe the woman before deciding whether to introduce himself.

It looked like a planned ambush, he said.

Answering the question on what gave the ambush game away, Gary said that he had a phone call from the woman and observed that a female was indeed using the phone at the meeting place.

"I told her I'll be reaching in 15 minutes and kept delaying the meeting time.

"Eventually I told her I can't make it," he said.

When he told her he wasn't turning up, a few guys came out of hiding and convened with the female.

"They'll bash me up. Definitely," he said.

Gary Ng is fearful of the law

Singapore's sex-video blogger, Gary Ng displays extreme gusto through his videos of his sex exploits, sometimes without the girls knowing about it.

You might think he is brazen and would not take rules and regulations into consideration especially since Gary Ng risks two years jail and/or a fine of $20,000 - $80,000 for the distribution of obscene videos.

He could also face up to five years jail and a $1,000 fine if found guilty of pimping.


When asked if he is at all fearful of this, Gary Ng unexpectedly says he is.

In an interview with RazorTV, Gary Ng confessed it was his fears that made him take down all his videos back in March of this year.

It was only because of emails and comments from his male fans persuading him to put them up that he created his blog. He charges a fee of $50 to access it.

He credits the blog's existence to one particular email a fan sent him. According to his fan, it is because of Gary Ng's videos that "we (men) no longer (have a) need to visit Geylang".

Currently Gary Ng currently operates his new website on a foreign server. But he told RazorTV that he is still afraid of the regulations and has toned the publication of his videos down.

He says if the Singapore government were to tell him to close down his site, even if it was just in an email notification, he would immediately agree to do so.

He believes he has more important things in life to concentrate on and would not take the risk.

"I still have my parents to take care of".
