This is outrageous! I wonder how many singaporeans' applicants are being discarded or deleted by the HR in RWS. And the government kept saying that Singaporeans are being picky and choosy!

Singaporean’s Email Job Application For Admin Manager (Technical Services) Position At RWS Unread and Deleted by Human Resource Dept

Posted by admin 30 March, 2010

Hi Gilbert,

You may be interested to know that although I’m one of those who sent in my application on the first day of the job advertisement for the position of administrative manager (Technical Services), the employers from RWS (Resort World Sentosa) didn’t even *read my application and delete it off their mailbox (please see below).

I’m a graduate with 13 years of experiences and have post graduate certifications in customer & project management. The asking salary was already 10% lower than what MOM’s average survey is showing.

I’m wondering why they didn’t even read my application. Is is because I’m a local and hence more expensive to be hired?

What’s the purpose of the government setting up the IRs when the jobs go to foreigners and the pretence goes on collecting our resumes and wasting our time – to show MOM that they ‘cannot find’ the right candidate so as to justify a breach in original FT quota?

It is a very sad day for Singapore and Singaporeans. We are being treated as the second class citizens in our own country – no thanks to the agenda of our government.

PS. Please use a pseudonym if you want to quote me as I’m not comfortable with my real name being published online.

Thanks,

Patrick (name changed)

The email must have been deleted by a FTrash. :D

Now, isn't it the right time to protest? So what are you sinkie ball-less cowards going to do now?

It could simply be the case that the job position was already filled, so they deleted the applicant's email without reading it.

There is no evidence to prove otherwise. Like po2wq said, they didn't even read the email, so how could they possibly know the applicant's nationality?

Being an applicant who "sent in a job application" on the first day of the job advertisement doesn't mean squat.

There are always campers out there trolling the newspapers or online jobsites to send applications at first sight.

Just like sometimes you see in morning papers advertising a promotion for a product at the supermarket. But by the time you reach there at 8am, all of the products have already been sold out.

The moral of the story is: 一山还有一山高 (there is always someone out there better/faster than you). Don't cry foul just because you didn't make the cut.

This would have resulted in outright revolution in functional countries.

For an unsinkified behavior, even if the job position is filled, the company has to send a letter back to him to tell him that.

That is why i stay away from sinkies.. It will do everyone good.

Strange reply from RWS server. Do one get this type of receipt/report if a mail was unread and deleted?

You have to turn on read mail receipt in Outlook.

Some people think people who turn this on are rude. If you use Outlook you will get a prompt asking if you want to notify the sender that you have read the email.

IMHO, it's best to turn this feature off to avoid offending people, especially for company emails.

My goodness!!! the truth is out. RWS disregard Singaporeans and an utter dissappoinment to all its applicants being rejected. BOYCOTT!!! BOYCOTT!!!

Not sure if you have ever tried looking for a job.

With thousands of applications for one single position, will you even open up each and every single email to paste a template thanking the applicant, or will you just press delete?

It would be prudent to assume that applicants who are not selected for interviews will not be notified. And any company out there usually tells you this upfront to be polite.

I only delete names that appear like foreigners to my company. Singaporeans still get a click from my mouse. For your info, it is never a tiring affair to read Singaporeans applications because 90% are foreigners - some even on social or dependent pass with a single page resume uglily handwritten. A waste of company precious time to read it.

i dun think any business in singapore really want sinkies.

they want FT to cut labour cost and make lots of money.
