SINGAPORE: A Singaporean was shot and injured in a Copenhagen restaurant on Monday evening around 7pm.

According to Danish Police he is a 53—year—old friend of Roland Tan, a 61—year—old former Singaporean who owns Restaurant Bali. According to Danish Police, Roland Tan arrived in Denmark in the 1960s. Danish police told Channel NewsAsia the men were preparing for Mr Tan’s closed—door birthday celebration at the restaurant on Nytorv Square when the incident occurred.
The gunman is believed to have entered the premises through the back door. Mr Tan was shot in his shoulder while the Singaporean took a bullet to the stomach. In response to media queries, Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said the wounded man has been hospitalised and the Ministry is in touch with his family. According to Danish media, police are currently searching for the suspect, a 47—year—old Vietnamese man. They believe the shooting was due to a personal matter and are hoping to apprehend the suspect soon. — CNA/vm
