KUALA LUMPUR: A male Singaporean was found dead in the storeroom of a furniture factory in Jalan Bukit Belacan, Lembah Jaya near Ampang on Saturday.

Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Amiruddin Jamaluddin said the body of wireman Khairil Anwar Abd Karim, 48, was found at 12.30pm by a member of the public.

"The body lying in bed was black, smelly and swollen. Khairil is believed to have died three days ago.

"There were no signs of forced entry as the door was locked from inside while the room was not ransacked," he told reporters at the scene.

Amiruddin said Khairil had occupied the room for five months and was believed to be a friend of the furniture factory owner.

The body was sent to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) for an autopsy. Police have classified the case as sudden death.
