S'porean in JB kidnap held

<!-- by line --> <!-- end by line --> A 57-YEAR-OLD Singaporean man was among four people arrested by Malaysian police for kidnapping the son of a Malaysian multi-millionaire. The man, wanted in Singapore for gang-related activities and robbery, is believed to be the mastermind of the kidnap, reported the New Straits Times on Thursday. The four - including two other men and a woman aged between 19 and 59 - were arrested on Monday when the Malaysian businessman called the police after the teen returned home unharmed. The businessman had earlier dropped off a ransom of RM7 million (S$2.89 million), believed to be one of the largest ransom payment in Malaysia in recent years, at a secluded spot. Malaysian police tracked the kidnappers to their hideout and recovered an undisclosed sum of the ransom money, said the NST report. Johor police chief Mokhtar Shariff confirmed that four people, including the woman and the Singaporean, were detained in connection with the case.
