A man in Pattaya, believed to be a 23-year-old Singaporean, was arrested by Thai police on Aug 5 for alleged theft, reported local media.
Ms Nonglak Sanejak, 20, told Pattaya Daily News that the man had allegedly befriended her while claiming to be a wealthy Japanese businessman.
She claims that after he took her to a restaurant, she took a ride in his car and stopped at a convenience store. As she left the store, Ms Nonglak claimed the man drove off with her handbag which contained 7,000 baht (S$275), her iPhone 4S and an identity card.
Police found 75,000 baht on the man when they arrested him at a bar that same night and believe he's a suspect in a string of other similar thefts.
