S'pore woman, 72, suffers fracture after alleged hit-&-run with Deliveroo rider at Toa Payoh
The rider has been suspended.
A 72-year-old woman was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run incident in Toa Payoh, leaving her with a fracture and massive bruising.
Alleged hit & run
Jocelyn Ong told Mothership that the incident involved a food delivery rider.
She claimed that the food delivery rider's bicycle handle hooked onto her elderly mother's umbrella, which caused the elderly woman to fall.
Ong then claimed that her mother landed on her right shoulder and hit her jaw against the pavement, causing her gums to bleed. She also scraped her knee in the process.
The Deliveroo rider also allegedly dragged the woman along the pavement for a short distance.
A bystander apparently grabbed hold of the rider's bicycle, but the rider allegedly rode away the moment she let go to help the elderly woman up.
The incident occurred on March 30 outside Philips APAC Centre, along Lorong 1 Toa Payoh.
Fracture and bruising
According to Ong, her mother suffered a fracture in her right shoulder and massive bruising on her upper arm caused by internal bleeding.

In response to Mothership's queries, the police confirmed that a report was lodged. Investigations are ongoing.
Deliveroo rider suspended
Ong also said that she had written to Deliveroo regarding this incident.
On Apr. 5, Deliveroo apologised for the incident and said that they said they would escalate this to their Serious Complaints team.
In response to Mothership's queries, a Deliveroo spokesperson said on May 1 that they took immediate action to suspend the rider's account.
They explained that the standards they expected of their riders were not met in this particular case.
"Deliveroo has a zero tolerance approach towards those who break the rules and endanger their own safety and that of others," the spokesperson said.
They have been cooperating with the police in their investigation upon learning of the incident.
Deliveroo is also in touch with the victim's daughter.
