S'pore hosts e-govt forum
By Diana Othman

OVER 400 leading e-Government experts from around the world will gather here for a four-day event to brainstorm opportunities and challenges in developing successful e-Government programmes in an increasingly connected world.

The inaugural iGov Global Exchange, to be hosted by Singapore, will be held from June 15 to 19.

It will cover three key components:

- A full day iGov Forum for senior government officials and industry speakers.

- An iGov exhibition showcasing international success stories and e-Government projects.

- Site visits to selected Singapore government agencies and infocomm companies.

The event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) on behalf of the Singapore government's iGov Council, in partnership with the Singapore Exhibition Services (SES).

The guest-of-honour and keynote speaker for the forum on Integrating Public Services, Engaging Citizens, is Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Having topped the e-Government indices of the World Economic Forum's Network Readiness Index five years in a row, from 2002 to 2006, and winning numerous local and international awards in e-Government solutions, Singapore will share its infocomm journey and experience.

In addition, experts from international organisations, other governments and the private sector will also share their best practices and success stories on the use of infocomm.
