<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"-->A suspected serial burglar, dubbed the 'Spiderman', who is believed to be involved in a spate of break-ins in Sengkang was arrested on Sunday.
The 29-year-old was spotted climbing into a second floor unit of Block 172B Edgedale Plains by an alert resident, who called the police immediately.
Ang Mo Kio Police Division officers arrived promptly and cordoned the area, and waited for the suspect to emerge. He was nabbed after he climbed down the unit.
The suspect is believed to be involved in a series of break-ins reported in Sengkang estate over the past two months. Police found in his posession some cash, laptops, cell phones and valuables totalling about $3,000.
He will be charged in court.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division HQ, Superintendent Hsu Sin Yun commended the alert resident and urged members of public to ensure all doors, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks, and to install an anti-burglar alarm system. He also adviced residents to keep expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box, and large amounts of cash in the bank. Informing one's neighbours if they are leaving home for a long period of time would also help, he added.
