<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->MY FRIENDS from Thailand and Vietnam came to Singapore to visit and I took them to foodcourts Kopitiam and Food Republic in shopping malls to try our local food. However, it was an unpleasant experience for these first-time visitors to Singapore.
While we were still eating, the elderly cleaners frequently came to our table to ask if we had finished our food so they could clear the plates.
It was disruptive as we were talking.
Worse, another cleaner subsequently came to our table not only to clear our dishes but also to leave leftover food from the next table on our table, even as a few of us were still eating.
The worst episode was when a cleaner stood behind us and waited for us to finish our food. Once he saw us finish, he immediately took away the plates.
The foodcourts were not crowded as we went during non-peak period. I understand the cleaners must clear tables efficiently, but they should be better trained.
I felt embarrassed by the service and training provided by Kopitiam and Food Republic. I think they should clear plates only when customers have left.
Needless to say, my foreign friends did not leave with a good impression of our foodcourts.
