KUALA LUMPUR - The son of former Pasir Puteh MP Wan Mohd Najib Wan Mohamad is in critical condition after he was hacked by a parang-wielding man near Wangsa Maju.
Wan Mohd Faizal, 24, suffered injuries to the back of his head, neck and hands after he was attacked by three men outside a restaurant near Section 6 at Wangsa Maju at around 10.30am yesterday.
Sentul deputy OCPD Supt Othman Abu Bakar said Wan Mohd Faisal, a car salesman, was walking alone along a row of shoplots there when he was ambushed by three men.
"Initial investigations revealed that one of the men started hacking him with a parang," he said yesterday.
He said the victim then ran to a restaurant nearby to seek help.
"We believe there were two other suspects who were waiting in a black Proton Perdana nearby.
"Wan Mohd Faisal is receiving medical treatment at the intensive care unit of Hospital Kuala Lumpur," he said, adding that the motive for the attack had yet to be determined.
Supt Othman urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or the nearest police station.
