GEORGE TOWN - There was a sombre atmosphere at the Batu Gantong funeral parlour as Han Chiang High School students bade their form teacher Lee Boon Sim, 36, goodbye.
While her family and friends broke down during her funeral yesterday, her students vowed to study hard.
A slideshow of Lee, who died in an accident on Tuesday, was shown followed by prayers for her soul to rest in peace.
"She was the most outstanding teacher and her sudden demise was a great loss to the school and students," said principal Kung Bee Lee.
Lee was voted "the most outstanding form teacher" for seven straight years since 2005.
Her father Lim Beng Keat thanked everyone for their support.
Also there to send her off was her boyfriend Goh Eng Soon, 37.
Her body was cremated at the Batu Gantong crematorium and her ashes will be sent back to Miri today.
Goh and Lee were on their way home after dinner at Gurney Plaza when their motorcycle knocked into a car at the Gurney Drive seafront before they were hit by a passing car.
Lee, who was riding pillion, died due to severe head and internal injuries while Goh suffered ear and body injuries.
