Puppy Wisely Uses the Crosswalk After Seeing Jaywalker Get Hit By a Car
A puppy in eastern China is winning love on social media for adhering to road safety rules, a laudable sight caught seconds after a car in the same area sent a jaywalker flying.
The scene, which occurred in broad daylight, took place at an intersection in Jiangsu province on Sept. 7, according to People’s Daily.
In a now-viral video, a man can be seen jaywalking before being hit by a speeding car.
The man, identified as Wang, was tossed in the air onto the car’s windshield before landing hard on the concrete road.
The unfortunate accident caught the attention of a white puppy chilling on the other side of the road.
It headed toward the edge of the sidewalk, apparently planning to cross the road.
But in a laudable act that puts Wang to absolute shame, the puppy waited for motorcycles to pass, looked to its left and right, and crossed the road through the pedestrian lane.
As the white critter made its way to safety, Wang laid on concrete in apparent agony.
After the incident, the driver of the car explained that he did not expect anyone walking out openly onto the road — so he was unable to hit the brakes in time, according to Sing Tao Daily.
This justification was received well across Chinese social media, with people expressing no sympathy toward Wang and instead praising the puppy for being the law-abiding “citizen.”
