businesses targetting the so called “millennials” or gen y customers with online shopping, drone and driverless delivery, credit coupons, promotions, social media influence, etc., and forgetting about the baby boomer generation will be in for a rude awakening. any financial sexpert or (real) banker will tell you this generation y and the next have no money. they live in their parents’ homes, use parents’ money, on credit, on the false perception that the future purchasing power is all about them. in 1st world cuntries, the generation with much of the wealth is the baby boomer generation. homes all paid for, paid for kids’ college education, amassed high amounts of savings, invested in stocks and mutual funds a long time ago when they were still affordable, retired or planning for retirement with reasonable financial independence. case in point - japan. in japan, retail businesses are beginning to realize the money is from this generation and slowly changing strategy and direction to attract them as primary customers. u.s. companies have not woken up to this fact yet as they keep harping the “millennial” model of their business in current ads, pricing and promotion strategy. wrong. every home and mansion in sillycon valley i visit the hosts are shy to admit that their grown and working children are living with them, feeding off from their parents’ fridge, using all toiletries provided, leeching on electricity and wi-fi access. some of the kids have tech jobs and make more than their parents but they continue to suck their parents dry. what do they do with their earnings? stay home and buy junk and all kinds of shit online, so much so that they run out of room to stash the trash. they resort to using their parents’ spare bedroom, study, den, garage, closets for storage. they open packages to check what’s inside and just leave the empty boxes in the home. if the items are not fond for them to use or carry around, they simply chuck them aside never to see or touch them again. recycling plastics, cardboard and paper doesn’t register with them. they are the trashiest and laziest generation ever. what do they do at work? 69% of the time they go on social media to see shit and post crap and surf online shopping sites for more things to buy. majority of them do shit work by typing keyboards, writing buggy codes, playing with apps, and dreaming up jackshit “products” that are useless to mankind. all shitty software and zero practical hardware. are they responsible with their credit card accounts and payment? most of the parents with such kids i know have to bail their cc accounts out as they are either late on payment or they forget about paying. if i have a business i would not want to deal with them unless their parents are wealthy and ready to sign on as collateral parties.
