Sloppy job by interior designer on our new home
An interior designer not only did a sloppy job at STOMPer NCH’s new home, he tried to overcharge them for work done on a platform of the STOMPer’s master bedroom.
In an email sent to STOMP today (Nov 13), the STOMPer wrote:
“Being a new house owner, we look forward to renovating our new house and starting a new life in it.
“Sadly, we faced a lot of problems with Weiken Interior Designer.
“To highlight one of the many examples - our room doorframe.
“It was damaged when the contractor put up the door.
“The hole was supposed to be neat, but was very roughly 'dug'.
“When we ask the ID why this was so, he responded ‘Oh, no one will realise this anyway.’
“We were so angry and insisted that they re-do.
“It was just covered up with a plastic casing pushed in, and we felt that something was not right.
“After getting the contractor to unscrew the metal 'bracket', we saw that it's very badly done and the door frame is bended in - result of hammering which even the boss of the contractor is unable to answer us why his worker uses hammer which is not suppose to.
“Before handover, we asked him if he needs to re-measure again on the actual platform done-up in our master bedroom since the measurements quoted in contract were only based on floorplan which he mentioned he would alter at the contract signing but yet did not.
“The excuse given was asking us to 'give and take', and say that he will not ask us to pay for shortfall and will also not refund us for excess.
“Nevertheless, we still measured ourselves and realised that he has over-charged us for 21 sq ft!
“We purposely asked him again whether he needs to measure again, giving him another chance but again he say no need.
“After he pass us the cheque of the balance amount that we have over-paid, we measure the platform right in front of him and its only then that he admit that he has over-quoted us and will re-fund the money to us.”
